What We're Wearing March 28th, 2014

Today I'm wearing Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rosé Kiss. I got it for free in my CEW goody bag, just another reason that's my favorite event. I love the slim, tiny, tin packaging it comes in. It smells like a raspberry smoothie. 

If you don't like sweet scents, this is not for you. This product leaves my lips extremely moisturized, but, be aware, it has a very light pink color. When you wear it alone, make sure you only use a tiny bit; unless you like the pink-frosted lip-look. It's great on top of lipstick to lighten the color.

I love the kinds of necklaces you can never take off: light, minimalist and dainty so they go with everything and you barely feel them there. But I also like them to have a little edge or flavor. I’ve recently added this scrimshaw charm necklace to the rotation. I’m in love with it because while I know it’s something a tourist can pick up in a gift shop in Newport, it has this rustic nautical vibe to me. It’s a little storied, romantic and tough that way, and it’s just the right amount of tacky with its gift-shop aspect. Scrimshaw, in case you didn’t know, is scrollwork, engravings or carvings on whale bones and/or teeth. And that’s definitely a cool part of it, too, no?

Wardrobe Staples Two Ways for Spring with Zappos

Spring is coming, we promise! Getting your closet in gear for the warmer weather is always exciting, and even more so after this brutal winter. As if it couldn’t get any better, we partnered with Zappos to show you just how fresh you can make your spring wardrobe. Pour LaVictoire Irina Black Leather Pumps, $185

Whatever your day-to-day (and night) look is, you can’t not have a great pair of black pumps. We both love this pair from Pour La Victoire – they’re comfortable, honest. I’m not a heels-wearer, so I’d tell you. But even I felt like I could walk for miles in these, thanks to the platform and soft inside.

Chinese Laundry D’OrsayFlats in Sand, $59.95

The D’Orsay flat trend is sticking around, which is good news – they’re classic yet cool and easy to wear with anything. I never found a pair I loved last year, so I was thrilled to find these. Both Sutton and I loved how comfortable, versatile and chic these were. 

I used them as a muted anchor piece to a bold outfit:

MINKPINK NativeNights Printed Dress, $80.99

I love MINKPINK, because they make dresses like this. This is the kind of dress I literally live in all spring and summer. I’m obsessed with its airy, gauzy fabric and its effortlessly flattering, flowing dropped-waist silhouette. Its print seals its status as a downtown take on bohemian cool. Sutton loved it just as much, and saw how she could dress it up.
