July 2014 Birchbox

One of my favorite days of the month? When my Birchbox arrives!

Number 4™ Super Comb Prep & Protect

My hair tends to be frizzy - especially in the summer with all of the humidity! This product left my hair frizz free - and didn't weigh it down at all.

AQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil

Yes, this is a bright color! But, a bit more sheer than it looks; it is not totally over-the-top but very fun for a summery night out.
I wouldn't wear this everyday (it is a bit too bright for me) but I love it for the beach!

RUFFIAN Nail Lacquer – Rosary

This is a very fun polish - and perfect for summer. Many metallic polishes tend to be streaky (unless you plan on painting numerous coats) but after just one coat this polish looked perfect.
RUFFIAN Dressing Room Nail Lacquer Remover Towelettes

I paint my nail constantly (you will almost never see me polish free) and I HATE the smell of nail polish remover (especially because I always take off my polish at my desk & work and it drives everyone crazy!). This did not have the awful stink & no one noticed!

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel

I am a strong believer of peels - they remove your (yucky) dead skin cells and leave your skin soft & smooth. This is a great peel because it was effective, yet gentle.

dr. brandt® pores no more® pore refiner primer

This primer left my face soft - and zapped oil all day!

TATCHA's Ritual Discovery Kit

I'm leaving for the Hamptons today, after work. While I do have clothes in my closet (thanks for the giant walk-in closet, connected to my bedroom daddy!) but I still need to pack some last minute items - cell phone charger, my new Kate Spade 'Hamptons' sunglasses, and everything I need for my beauty routine!

Don't worry about me, I have a ready-to-go kit, TATCHA's new Ritual Discovery Kit. It has everything I need:

- PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil—25mL deluxe
- POLISHED Rice Enzyme Powder—14 x 1g packets
- RADIANT Deep Brightening Serum—10mL deluxe
- SUPPLE Moisture Rich Silk Cream—10mL deluxe (Combination, Oily and Sensitive Skin Kits)
- AGELESS Enriching Renewal Cream—10mL deluxe (Dry Skin Kit)

They have four different kits, so no matter you're skin type (oily, dry, combination, or sensitive skin) they have you covered. Umm, what could be better than just packing a cute little kit and not rummaging through your medicine cabinet trying to find everything your skin needs? Not to mention, they are the perfect size.

Happy travels!

VERSO Skincare - Time Reverse Series

I am obsessed with Verso's Time Reverse Series

This anti-aging set has you completely covered. With a cleanser, day cream and night cream, you can put no thought into your skincare regime - VERSO has done it for you. I will be constantly packing and unpacking my Louis Vuitton luggage. This set is a no-brainer - all three products they are perfect for travel and carry-on - 3.4 oz and under, just pack and go!

The foaming cleanser will purify your skin, removing impurities and leaving your clean and soft. While totally effective, it's also gentle enough to use everyday - don't worry about having to pack a second cleanser.

The day cream will totally change your skin - the Retinol 8 complex, a stabilized vitamin A complex, is eight (yes, eight!) times more effective than standard Retinol. Say bye-bye to dull, tired, wrinkled skin.

I have told you time, and time, again - you need to use night cream! And no, just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you get to skip this step. Don't worry, this set also includes a night cream, which also contains Retinol 8. You will wake up in shock at how amazing your skin looks.

Enjoy your summer vacations!

What We're Wearing May 30th, 2014

Today I'm wearing Make Up Forever Smokey Extravagant mascara.Today is my first day wearing it - so I can only tell you my first impression. So far I'm loving it! It's really a three in one - it adds volume, length, and curl. I can't speak for how long it lasts, but so far so good and with one stroke it covered my lashes perfectly. Unlike most mascaras, it uses 4D technology - "an exclusive microdefining wax complex envelopes the lash surface in ultrablack pigments for far-away impact and up-close precision." I'm obsessed with the brush, it has a precision tip which perfectly separated my lashes and the base of the brush is rounded to create volume.

Napoleon Perdis - New Product Launch!

In case you haven't already noticed, I am obsessed with Napoleon Perdis. His products are AMAZING and I have made this clear so many times; gifts for your BFF,  your momachieving the perfect red lip, their perfect gloss to complement a smokey eye, and I wear his products time and time again. I showed you my before and after look for a holiday party I attended, which I loved.

I quickly got back to Bergdorfs to try two of his new products - the Auto Pilot Radiance-Boosting Mask and the Stroke of Genius Liquid Cashmere Foundation. His whole line is phenomenal and these two products are no exception.

They started by applying the mask - which is an amazing prep mask. I cannot even put into words how amazing it smells, not to mention the results you get after using it! Honestly, this mask does everything you could wish for - softens and smooths skin, blurs fine lines, and is unbelievably moisturizing (thanks to Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E). After applying it to your face, and leaving it on for 15 minutes, you can wash or tissue it off. Easy peasy. You face will be instantly prepped for makeup.

After the mask was applied, they applied the foundation. In general, I am NOT a foundation fan - it leaves my face feeling caked and gross. This foundation is now my exception. It was actually super embarrassing - the makeup artist started to apply a great feeling cream to my face (which felt nice and moisturizing), and I sat there patiently waiting for her to apply the foundation to be applied. Finally, I was like "okay, I'm ready for you to apply the foundation" and she then said, "umm, actually that's what I just applied". So, number one, I felt like a total moron, and number two, the "light cream" I thought she was applying was actually the foundation!   I couldn't believe that I couldn't feel it, and how amazing it looked (I think she showed me a mirror, because she wanted to prove it to me!). Other than how this product feels, my favorite part is the built in brush. What could be easier?

DIY Decorated Wooden Box

I am obsessed with DIY projects - they're fun to make, brighten up my apartment and make great, personalized gifts! This DIY box is one of a kind and you can't do it wrong - the messier the better.

For this DIY you need these materials:

  • Plain wood craft box (in any size your heart desires!)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paintbrushes
  • Paint - I used 3 different colors, but you can add as many as you want.
  • Stencils - I used Martha Stewart birds & berries stencils
  • Bowl of water
  • Newspaper or an old book you don't mind ripping up (I used the pages of a book).
  • Screwdriver
  • Painters tape

You need to start by unscrewing the clasps from the box. You don't want the Mod Podge to accidentally glue the box closed.

Paint a thin coat of Mod Podge over the top of the box, a sponge paintbrush will give you even coverage.

Rip up the paper and place pieces randomly over the box, let them overlap and get messy! Use the sponge brush and coat the paper with another layer of Mod Podge.

After the box has dried, it's time to start painting! I started with a wet sponge brush and pink paint to get a translucent coat on top of the box. Then I mixed green paint and water to make it runny, and dripped it all over the box.

Once the paint has dried, (it takes awhile because it's watery) place the stencil on top of the box and tape it down so it doesn't move - painter's tape works best. I started with a branch. After painting the branch (and letting it dry) I repositioned the stencil and painted a bird.

Carefully remove the stencil and let the paint to dry completely. Finally, cover the top of the box in a thin coat of Mod Podge and let that dry.

Use the screwdriver to put the box back together and admire you work!
