Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is amazing. I have never used it for cooking (well, I have never really used anything for cooking, what can I say? It's just not my thing). But using it for beauty is a must. You can get coconut oil for very cheap at any grocery store.

Go buy some right now I'll wait here. Okay, fine, you can read the list of things that I recommend using it for, but I guarantee you will go purchase some after reading this.

1.) Use it in place of a shaving cream. It works just as well and leaves your legs super soft.

2.) This oil is the perfect base for a body scrub. Mix with brown sugar and scrub away.

3.) Coconut oil is a fantastic deep conditioner. After shampooing your hair apply the oil from roots to tips. Let it sink in for about 10 minutes and then rinse (no need for conditioner). If your hair is very damaged, feel free to leave it in longer for 10 minutes.

4.) Pour a bit into you bathtub before a soak. It really softens your skin and moisturizes.

5.) Rub it all over your face. Okay that sounded a bit awkward. But you can use it on your lips like a chap stick, under your eyes instead of an eye cream or use a bit (or add to your normal face cream) to lock in moisture. It is completely fine for oily or combo skin, you don't need to have very dry skin.

6.) Make it a face mask; mix with a bit of honey and mashed up apples. Apply the paste all over your face and neck. Read a magazine for 10 minutes and rinse.

7.) Use it like a body cream. Coconut oil is extremely moisturizing. Like any cream, you will benefit most if you apply right after showering when your skin is still damp.

Okay, now I think you're all set to go to the grocery store for this magic natural goodness, yes?

Perfectly Glossed Kisses,

Sutton

  1. To do it properly one needs to go to French Polynesia to obtain the real coconut oil.
A week in Huahine or Bora Bora. It gets processed in Tahiti and harvested all over the
118 islands. Turns to a solid below 80 degrees F.
