SOF Scoop: Meaghan Elizabeth of Fashion Savage

Meaghan Elizabeth, aka M Lizzy, the brains behind the blog Fashion Savage, has been our style soulmate for quite some time now. It’s actually crazy we’ve never met – and we keep badgering her to come to NYC! – because she’s truly a Twitter bestie. It’s easy to see why – she’s stylish, unique, funny, bang-on smart and brutally honest. Those qualities also make her an awesome blogger. So, we couldn’t resist making her our next victim subject for SOF Scoop.

SOF: What is one beauty product you can't live without?
ME: I was excited to answer this question until I realized the choice was more difficult than I thought since I have a few beauty go-tos!  I would have to say Sisley facial masks, though.  Whether I'm applying the red clay or linden blossom, my face always feels refreshed and my pores are minimized. ...Oh, and also my Chanel Inimitable Intense mascara which is an everyday staple whether I make up the rest of my face or not.

SOF: If you could only wear one designer for the rest of your life - but had unlimited access to everything from that label - what would it be?
ME: I had to think about this a bit since a lot of what I love right now just would not cut it for when I reach my golden years, as I aim to remain a fashion savvy lady even at an elderly age.  While it feels like an obvious choice, I would go with Chanel.  Chanel is one of the first labels that acquainted me with my love of the fashion world and I've worshiped the quilted bags for years.  It is eternal - the looks are classic, with something for every decade in my future.

SOF: What are your favorite three things in your closet?
ME: This is tough because I am constantly adding to it!  Currently, I would say:
1) My black Kate Spade handbag.  It is a classic and goes with everything.
2) A gauzy, flowy, flower child-inspired dress from a shop called Liz Lisa in the Shibuya district of Tokyo.  It's been a favourite since I got it over four years ago.
3) My Detroit tee from Topshop.  Being from its Canadian border city counterpart, Detroit feels like part of my hometown and I think when I'm wearing this shirt, I'm always feeling confident since it reminds me of where I came from and to stay true to who I am.

SOF: What made you decide to start a blog, and what is your favorite thing about blogging?
ME: I'd been interested in getting into blogging for a while but felt I didn't have the time or know where to get started.  My blog began as a combination of fashion and beauty interests but also a motivation to find and share things I love about my current city of Vancouver since I'm just about always homesick for my East Coast digs.  From there, I'd opened a gateway to further explore my love of writing and I split the blog into two to focus on my true soul mate, fashion!

What I enjoy most about blogging is that it allows me to fully express myself, to be inspired, and inspire.  I love that it gives me an additional excuse to spend time on and constantly be learning more about one of the things I love most!

SOF: What spring trend are you most excited to try?
ME: I'm happy to see that neon yellow has remained a staple for a few seasons now because I love it for creating a statement and brightening up rainy days.  Beauty wise, I'm absolutely loving the 80s-esque hot pink lip and sport it every chance I get!

SOF: What is your favorite go-to brick-and-mortar store? And online store?
ME: When it comes to online stores, I sadly don't do much online shopping due to shipping limitations or excessively high rates for Canadian deliveries.  My go-to store of the moment is probably Topshop.  I love it for a good mix of everything and I'm so happy about their recent expansion in Canada!  I'm also a big fan of Forever 21 since I love costume jewelry.  They always have new stuff and it's so inexpensive that it allows me to have a huge collection and constantly be experimenting.

SOF: What is the last thing you bought?
ME: Literally?  A nail art kit from Nails Inc. ...But clothing wise, a yellow box pleated skirt with metallic detail from Ever New Melbourne.  Now I just need the spring weather to match!

 Handbags and Hugs,

Astor
