What We're Wearing

Sometimes I need to treat my lips to an expensive gloss and that is just what I did today. I am wearing Chanel's "Rouge Allure Extraid De Gloss" in Exces. This is the best of both worlds: great color like a lipstick and shine like a gloss. This is expensive, but so very worth the price tag. They have this gloss in 9 shades. It is not a product I would buy in every color but I did have fun picking out my perfect shade.

I am not a suit girl. I choose jobs based on what we'll have to wear everyday (and the discount, duh). I once wore a suit for an interview and felt like I was trapped in a fabric box. I know suits can be totally chic, but I'm short and they make me look like a dumpy square person. But, all that change when I substitute some of my favorite pieces to create a suit-like look. You won't find me in a matching navy polyester get-up, but I am totally comfortable with an edgier version of the typically uptown-ish look. I built this outfit around a plaid tweed jacket I got for FIVE DOLLARS at a second-hand store in Massachusetts. It makes me so happy. Like, how are things five dollars, ever? I'm wearing it over a Versace blouse that has these cool hanging strips of chainmail you can't see, with my Eddie Borgo necklace, quilted vinyl skirt from Topshop and rag & bone boots. This is my take on polished.

Beauty Box 5

If you read my Birchbox post, then you know how much I adore monthly beauty boxes, so I needed to try out another one. I just got my Beauty Box 5 subscription and was not disappointed. This box is $12 per month and they send four to five samples; the samples are a mix of luxury, vegan brands and drugstore brands so you will definitely get things you will enjoy.

Need to know:
  • They ship to USA and to Canada
  • Your box can include anything from makeup, nail care and body care, basically anything and everything beauty-related (my favorite kind of gifts, in case you haven't started my holiday shopping yet)
  • When you sign up you create a beauty profile which is fun to fill out and lets the company know all about you.
  • If you refer 5 friends you will get a free box, who doesn't love a freebie?
  • $12 per month which you can cancel at any time, but if you sign up for a longer subscription you will save, $30 quarterly (save $6), $100 for the year (which gets you two free months)
Okay enough blabbing, let me get to the good stuff; what was inside my box.

Pur~lisse Gentle Soy Milk Cleanser and Makeup Remover

I hadn't tried anything from Pur~lisse before and now I love this delicate cleanser. Especially when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to remove my makeup and then wash my face. Worked perfectly for me last night when Astor and I got home at an ungodly hour from a Park Ave duplex soirée.

Bodyography Foundation Primer

I also got the Bodyography Veil Foundation Primer in clear. This is a clear primer that fills in wrinkles and evens out your skin before applying a foundation. Now your foundation will go one smoothly as last longer.

Blinc Mascara

You may already know I love Blinc mascara, I posted about it previously. This mascara creates tubes around your lashes. And I love this mini size, great for popping into a Pandora clutch.

Lash Card

These individually wrapped cards help you say goodbye to clumpy mascara. Use the card to lift your (already curled) lashes and apply mascara as usual.

City Lips

This peptide and hyaluronic acid-infused gloss pumps my pout like no other. I already see and feel a difference.

Beauty Gift Guide: Mom

Moms are so good to us - who else cared for you as a tiny baby, still loved you when you were a bratty teen, and has always supported and loved you unconditionally? Yeah, that's what I thought. Now it's time to give her what she deserves a lovely gift for the holidays. My gift-buying style is as follows: get the recipient something they will love even if they don't know they want it, or something they would treat themselves to.

Skin Savvy Mom

$120 CellCeuticals Skin Treatment Kit

This is a perfect Mom gift. Everything she needs to have beautiful skin. If she is into skin care she will love this, it's a 60-day treatment kit with everything she needs. If she doesn't spend a lot on skin care and is a bit of a beauty dummy, this is still perfect. Trust me, she will be delighted to treat herself and feel like she is in a facial room at a spa every day. The kit has everything she needs: cleanser, skin treatments, moisturizer and more.

Forever Young Mom

$40 REN Anti-Aging Eye Cream

By now you probably know how I feel about eye cream: obsessed. This is a perfect one for mom (and feels free to borrow some for yourself). This eye cream will become a new favorite; let her say bye-bye to wrinkles, deep lines and crow feet. I use this product and it really does firm and moisturize the eye area. A mom with deep expression lines will definitely appreciate this.

$148 June Jacobs Age Defying Copper Complex
Your mom will go crazy for this complex. It increases cell turnover, promoting collagen and elastin, and, at an older age, moms will love this benefit. Her skin will be firm, no sagging over here.

Glamour Mom
$25 Mesmer-Eyes Mascara

If she wears a lot of make up or if she wears none, mascara is a must: the last step of beauty or the only step. This mascara is basically magic -  volume, length and curl, what else could you ask for in a mascara? The comb brush is fantastic and really separates each individual lash. (Comes in original and waterproof.)

$25 Instant Skin Porefector
http://www.vapourbeauty.com/

The Vapour Instant Skin Porefector is does just that: instantly perfects skin. Mom will love this organic BB Cream. It moisturizes, primes and gives a colorless smooth foundation finish, so no silicone or chemicals on mom's face.
