What We're Wearing, February 28th 2014

Today I'm wearing High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Star, by Bobbi Brown. The description "white diamond with pearl", is spot on. It's a clear gloss, with just a hint of shimmer. Unlike most glosses, this one also conditions my lips, and I love how shiny it is!

Today, I'm wearing this:

IN MY MIND. Seriously, you guys, I've officially snapped. With the wind chill dipping below zero yet again, I looked at my closet of typically-beloved treasures and hated everything. I don't have it in me anymore - layering takes on a whole different meaning when you have to do it for survival instead of style. And I just don't  have any zero-degree-appropriate outfits. I didn't have much to begin with, as I do not live in Siberia and did not ask for this tomfoolery. Therefore, I refuse to acknowledge winter clothing until this earth checks itself. And I love this swimsuit, I love We Are Handsome...and I love sunshine and warmth, so this is what I'm dreaming of wearing.

K. Nicole Couture Makes 16th Century European Monarch Fashion Perfect for Your Closet Now

One of my favorite new (new to me, anyway!) designers from this past NYFW was K. Nicole Couture. It’s a design duo consisting of Pennsylvania natives Kera Anderson and Nicole Styer, who have “set out to create a line that offers a mixture of ready-to-wear and couture pieces, with its tasteful selections of Italian prints and other luxury textiles.” The experienced fashion innovators cit “16th century crown molding, costume wear and royal charades” as inspiration. That aesthetic was the driving force of the FW14 collection – maybe that’s why I fell so hard for it, as a not-so-closeted European history freak. The amazing thing was that the line had all these costume elements and yet would be really wearable – it was the most modern, versatile and chic that such regal, opulent clothing could possibly be. As each new ensemble came down the runway, I kept thinking “that’s exactly what Ann Boleyn or Catherine Medici would wear if we were having dinner in DUMBO.” See for yourself:

Birchbox February 2014

My February Birchbox arrived - one of my favorite days of the month! If you haven't signed up for Birchbox, go do it now.

OPI Sheer Tints Color-Tinted Top Coat

I happen to love OPI nail polishes, and I always wear a topcoat. Topcoats make your mani last so much longer and keeps your nails shiny. My Birchbox came with a mini size of it. This topcoat is tinted, you can wear it alone or over a colored polish to add an extra hint of color and transform the color of your regular polish. I'm quite excited to try it out.

Mox Botanicals Bath Milk

What can I say, I'm old school and love taking baths. Nothing relaxes me more than a nice, hot bath. I loved this bath milk, the bags are filled with sea salt, organic whole milk and botanicals. You can drop the whole bag into the tub, or empty the bag to let everything float around. After my bath, I was relaxed, smelled great, and my skin was softer.

Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream

You already know how passionate I am about eye cream - hello, your eyes are the first area on your face to show signs of aging! I am, of course, never getting enough sleep. (How could I be? Out to dinner every night and meeting my trainer every morning before work!) This eye cream doesn't make me feel wide awake, but it does make me look it.

Agave Healing Oil Treatment

Winter is totally drying out my hair, which drives me crazy. I use hair oil all the time, not only is it good for your hair, it also get a rid of that hay-look. This oil is light enough to not weigh down my hair or make it look greasy. Plus, it can be used to soften and hydrate your skin - I live for double duty products.

Reviver Dry Deodorant Swipes for Clothes

One of the things that keeps me a loyal Birchbox customer (other than the amazing products, obviously) is that they always include a non beauty 'extra'. This unique feature is such a bonus that I love! In this box, they included a dry deodorant swipe for your clothes. Having never tried this, I'll admit I was a bit hesitant - but, after trying it, I'm hooked. No, it doesn't mean you can fire your dry cleaner, but it does mean you can use him less often! Swipe this pad across your clothes or hair and remove any smell. It was a lifesaver on Saturday - had to meet daddy (I was in desperate need of some money for my electricity bill, aka, needed my Louboutin's resoled). He was at a cigar bar, so I left stinking like smoke and was on my way to a date! Thankfully, I had this swipe with me and was able to de-smoke myself in a snap - much better than trying to mask the smell with perfume.

SAUNDER and the Glamorous yet Cool, Noir-Esque FW14 Collection, Inspired by The Singing Detective

One of the (many) reasons I’m obsessed with the line SAUNDER is that it’s one of the most seamless fusions of stand-out and wearable that exists in fashion. The effortless silhouette, impeccable tailoring and beautiful quality make the pieces so easy to weave into your style routine, yet unconventional details and quirky or artful prints take them into high-impact territory. It’s seriously never been so easy to be incredibly fashion-forward and on-trend yet individualistic.

The FW14 collection did not disappoint. Well. Let’s be clear. It did disappoint my bank account, which I think I could hear sighing in dread as I watched the looks come down the runway. I. Want. Everything. The collection was inspired by the BBC’s The Singing Detectivecheck out what that’s about if you’re not familiar here – and so had this sultry noir twist, but was vibrant, cool and modern at the same time. Details like a sequined cigarette pattern were just ridiculously chic. I can’t, I have no words. So, I’ll let the images do some talking for me.

What We're Wearing, February 21st 2014

Today I'm wearing Dior's Capture Totale Dream Skin. Yes, I know, it's expensive and I saved my pennies to get it. BUT, I promise you that its worth it's weight in gold. This is basically a bottle of magic that will change your life. I apply it after moisturizer and before my makeup. The longtime benefits alone are worth it - evens out your skin tone, fights wrinkles and firms your skin - but that is not the best part. The reason this product is better than other anti-aging products is because you see and feel a difference immediately. After applying Dream Skin you look instantly more beautiful, it gives you skin you never knew you had. I am head over heels in love.

The rainy weather today is the perfect opportunity to bust out my brand new treasure: my talented friend knitted this crazy-fun version of the "Eek hat," which we first found and fell for looking at Giles FW14 collection.

You can get your own Eek or MAKE your own Eek, if you're crafty like that, by visiting Wool and the Gang. Pre-made hats are $80, kits are $65. Geek out with your Eek out! (Sorry.)

Beauty Secrets Revealed Volume XII - Skin Care Edition

While I love sharing all different beauty tips with you, this edition is all about your beautiful face!

1.) Keep Your Face Hydrated

Winter is especially harsh on your skin - notice your skin looks extra dry? That's because it isn't hydrated! It may have flaky patches, or even be extra oily this winter! Both are caused by dry skin. Your skin may show signs of dryness, or maybe your skin is overcompensating and producing extra oil. Not to worry, I have a quick fix - start applying moisturizer during the day. Sometimes only applying your cream morning and night isn't enough. If you're not wearing makeup, then it's easy - just apply like you do in the morning. If you are wearing makeup, just put moisturizer on you hands, run them together and pat onto you face.

2.) Clear Up You Skin With A Facial

If you get facials regularly, then lucky you. For the rest of us save up and get a facial at the beginning of each season. As the weather changes, so does our skin. It's almost spring so go book that appointment!
Have a facial at start of each season.

3.) Stop Wiping Germs On Your Face - With Your Phone

I have my iPhone glued to my ear all day. Unfortunately, cell phones are super germy and now you are wiping those germs all over your face. Keep some wipes (I use the mini alcohol wipes) in your bag and wipe off your phone often. Of course you need to be gentle, I'm not suggesting you soak your cell in a jar of rubbing alcohol!

4.) Stop Wiping Germs On Your Face - With Your Pillow

I can almost guarantee you aren't changing your pillow case often enough, especially if you don't always remember to take off your makeup at night. Don't worry, you don't have to change your sheets every few days, but you do need to change that pillow case. P.S. the same goes for the towels you dry your face with!

5.) Zap Pimples Quickly

Yes, this is an old time trick, but it really works! Have a zit coming on? Ugh, I know, it's torture! It's okay, you have products at home that will help! Just put a tiny layer of toothpaste, or a crushed up aspirin and water paste on that pimple before bed.

Life is but a Dream...Delpozo FW14

Delpozo. What really can I say? One of my favorite lines of all time - I've never seen such incredible, insane quality, such impeccable tailoring, such intricate embellishment...and all applied to creations that are ethereal and regal yet modern and bold. The FW14 collection was sublimely elegant with retro/mod elements. I dream of the day I can get my hands on one of these pieces...
